A tragic accident occurred in Rome's Livio Labor Park when a tree fell on a bench, killing 45-year-old Francesca Ianni and injuring her friend Alessia Annibale.

The incident, likely caused by strong winds, narrowly missed Ianni's three children, who were playing nearby and escaped unharmed.

The injured woman was taken to Policlinico Umberto I for treatment.

Local authorities, including police and firefighters, are investigating the incident, and the Rome prosecutor's office has opened a case to determine any potential liabilities.

The children are now in the care of a family friend.
