A tragic incident occurred at the University of Salerno when a 15-meter pine tree fell due to strong winds, injuring five people.

The accident took place near the Engineering faculty, affecting students attending a training session.

A 25-year-old student suffered severe injuries, including fractures to the pelvis and skull, and is now in intensive care.

Two others, aged 20 and 48, were also hospitalized with serious injuries.

Emergency services, including firefighters and medical personnel, responded promptly, cutting branches to reach the injured.

The area has been secured and closed off, with an investigation underway by the authorities.

The university's rector, Vincenzo Loia, visited the hospital to check on the victims' conditions.

Witnesses reported that the tree's roots were rotten, indicating it was diseased, prompting a temporary suspension of classes.
