Three young detainees escaped from the Malaspina prison in Palermo, Italy, using knotted bedsheets to climb down the prison walls.

The escape occurred around 10:30 AM, triggering a large-scale search operation involving police, carabinieri, and a helicopter.

The detainees, all of foreign origin, had reportedly cut through their cell bars before making their daring escape.

One of the escapees, originally from Ivory Coast, was captured near the prison, while another was found hiding in a trash bin near the city’s hospital.

Authorities are continuing their search for the third fugitive.
