Cyclone Boris has unleashed severe weather across Italy, following its destructive path through Central Europe.

The regions of Emilia Romagna and Marche are experiencing the brunt of the storm, with heavy rainfall expected to reach up to 110 mm in 24 hours in some areas.

The Italian Meteorological Service has issued an orange alert for southern Emilia Romagna and a yellow alert for 11 other regions, warning of intense rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

The adverse weather has caused significant disruptions, including road flooding and fallen trees, particularly in the Marche region.

In the province of Salerno, emergency services are actively managing flood-related incidents.

Tragically, a firefighter lost his life in Foggiano when his vehicle was swept away by floodwaters.

The storm is expected to persist for another 48 hours before conditions improve over the weekend.
