Starting tomorrow, August 16, a significant weather shift is expected in Central and Northern Italy, with intense thunderstorms and hail as the African anticyclone weakens.
While high pressure and heat continue to grip the entire peninsula, these conditions are set to change due to heat-induced storms.
Despite maintaining high temperatures from North to South, the anticyclone shows signs of weakening.
The weekend will see a marked deterioration in weather, particularly in the North and parts of Central Italy, with temperatures dropping by up to 12 degrees.
Today, Ferragosto, has already seen some showers in the lower Piedmont and extreme western Liguria, indicating atmospheric instability.
The South will remain more stable, except for occasional afternoon disturbances in the Apennine areas.
This change is attributed to an Atlantic infiltration, bringing relief after five weeks of African high pressure dominance, with temperatures soaring above 35.5°C.
