Udine Tragedy: Emergency Response Under Scrutiny

Published: 2024-12-02

The Udine Prosecutor's Office is investigating three firefighters and an emergency operator for their roles in the tragic deaths of three young adults, Patrizia Cormos, Bianca Doros, and Christian Molnar.

The incident occurred on May 31, when the trio was swept away by the rising waters of the Natisone River near the Roman Bridge in Premariacco.

The investigation focuses on potential errors or delays in the emergency response protocol managed by the Sores emergency center and the Udine fire department.

Despite the ongoing inquiry, the firefighters who attempted to rescue the victims are not under investigation.

The accused have been summoned to appear before the magistrates on December 4, although they are unlikely to respond at this preliminary stage.

The fire department has expressed confidence in the judicial process to determine accountability.
