Two young men are presumed drowned after a soccer game turned tragic in Campo San Martino, near Padua, Italy.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when their ball fell into the Brenta River.
One man jumped in to retrieve it, quickly finding himself in distress due to strong currents.
His friend dove in to help, but both were swept away by the powerful waters.
Witnesses alerted authorities around 5:30 PM, prompting an immediate response from firefighters and carabinieri.
Search efforts, including divers and a helicopter, are ongoing but have yet to locate the men.
This tragedy comes just a month after a similar incident in the Natisone River, highlighting the dangers of Italy's swift-flowing waterways.
