In a tragic incident in the province of Foggia, Italy, the body of firefighter Antonio Ciccorelli was recovered after his service vehicle was swept away by floodwaters.

The 59-year-old, who was nearing retirement, was on a rescue mission during a severe storm when the vehicle was caught in the torrent.

His colleague managed to escape and was hospitalized with non-serious injuries.

The incident occurred as a heavy downpour hit the region, particularly affecting areas like San Severo and Apricena.

Ciccorelli's vehicle was found about 700 meters from where it was initially swept away.

The storm caused significant disruptions, with several motorists stranded due to flooding.
