An explosion occurred inside a trullo in the countryside of Cisternino, Brindisi province, resulting in one fatality and one serious injury.

The incident, likely caused by a gas leak, happened around 8:15 AM in the Caranna district near the Gravina di Castro provincial road.

The explosion involved a recently renovated trullo equipped with an external gas tank.

At the time, four people were inside: a couple from Barletta-Andria-Trani, who owned the property, and their guests from Bari.

Tragically, a 55-year-old man was found dead under the rubble after extensive search efforts by firefighters and rescuers.

His 53-year-old wife was severely injured and rushed to the hospital.

The explosion's loud blast was heard throughout the area, prompting immediate response from local fire brigades, civil protection, and law enforcement, who are investigating the cause of the explosion.
