A high-speed chase through the streets of Milan ended in tragedy when a 20-year-old Egyptian man, Ramy Elgaml, lost his life.

The pursuit began in Via Farini when two young men on a scooter ignored a police stop.

The driver, a 22-year-old Tunisian without a license, led the police on a dangerous chase through the city, running red lights and driving against traffic.

The chase concluded at the intersection of Via Ripamonti and Via Quaranta, where the scooter crashed into a wall.

Ramy, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered fatal injuries and died at the hospital.

The driver faces charges of vehicular homicide.

The incident has sparked tension, with friends and family gathering at the hospital and crash site to mourn Ramy's death.
