A tragic accident occurred shortly before noon on State Road 16 in Marzocca, Senigallia, resulting in the deaths of two cyclists, a man and a woman, believed to be a couple from the province of Ancona.

The cyclists, dressed in technical gear, were struck head-on by an Opel Corsa driven by a newly licensed young driver who reportedly veered into the opposite lane.

Despite the driver's attempt to provide assistance, the impact was fatal.

The victims were identified through a friend's phone call, as they carried no identification.

The crash also involved at least two other vehicles, including a Peugeot and another car carrying a child, who was taken to the hospital for checks.

The driver and passenger of the Opel were also hospitalized.

The exact circumstances of the accident remain under investigation by local authorities.
