In a devastating accident near Fonni, Sardinia, four young friends aged between 17 and 20 lost their lives when their car veered off the road and plunged into a ravine.
The incident occurred on the provincial road 69, a stretch lacking guardrails, late Wednesday night.
The victims, Michele Coinu, Michele Soddu, Marco Innocenti, and Lorenzo Figus, were returning home from work when the tragedy struck.
Despite extensive searches by family and volunteers, the wreckage was only discovered at midnight.
The community of Fonni is in mourning, with the mayor declaring a day of mourning to honor the young lives lost.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, with initial reports indicating no involvement of other vehicles.
