Severe Hailstorm Hits Turin

Published: 2024-08-02

A severe hailstorm struck Turin on the afternoon of August 2, causing significant damage across the city.

Hailstones as large as tennis balls blanketed the streets, affecting neighborhoods from the hills to the city center.

Emergency services received around thirty calls for assistance, including reports of fallen trees and damaged vehicles.

In one incident, two people were trapped in their car when a tree fell on it in Via Torricelli.

Additionally, four canoeists were rescued from the Po River near the Balbis Bridge after being caught off guard by the storm.

The storm also disrupted public transport and caused delays at the airport, with some flights redirected due to the weather conditions.
