Sammy Basso: A Legacy of Courage

Sammy Basso, a prominent advocate for progeria research, has passed away at the age of 28. Basso, who founded the Italian Progeria Association, dedicated his life to raising awareness about the rare disease that causes premature aging.

Despite his condition, he achieved academic excellence, earning a degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Padova.

His dream was to work at CERN in Geneva.

Basso's sudden passing occurred shortly after returning from a trip to China, while dining with family and friends.

His contributions to science and society were recognized with numerous accolades, including the Paolo Rizzi Journalism Award.
