In Foggia, Italy, a surge in violence at local hospitals has raised alarm among healthcare professionals and authorities.
Recently, a young man attacked medical staff at the Riuniti Hospital, using his plastered arm as a weapon.
This incident is part of a troubling trend of aggression against healthcare workers, prompting calls for increased police presence and security measures.
From January 2023 to August 2024, police units in hospitals have increased by 57.1%, yet the violence persists.
Healthcare leaders are urging the government to allocate funds for security improvements, while some suggest extreme measures like arming medical staff.
A protest is planned for September 16th to demand better protection for healthcare workers.
