Rescue Efforts Stalled on Mont Blanc

Published: 2024-09-09

Four climbers, two Italians and two Koreans, have been stranded on Mont Blanc since Saturday due to severe weather conditions.

The climbers, stuck at an altitude of over 4,500 meters, called for help as they faced freezing temperatures and poor visibility.

Rescue attempts by both French and Italian teams have been thwarted by strong winds and heavy fog, making helicopter access impossible.

Ground teams have also struggled to reach the climbers due to the harsh conditions.

As time passes, concerns for their safety grow, with hopes pinned on a potential weather window to resume rescue operations.

Meanwhile, a third group of Korean climbers was successfully rescued from a lower altitude on Mont Blanc de Tacul.
