Father Andrea Melis, a priest and principal of the Assarotti school in Genoa, has been arrested for sexual abuse of minors.

He is accused of exploiting his position to groom young boys, offering them gifts like money, branded clothing, and electronic cigarettes in exchange for sexual favors.

The judge, Milena Catalano, highlighted Melis's dangerous behavior, noting that he is HIV positive and engaged in unprotected sexual relations with his victims, potentially exposing them to serious health risks.

Investigators believe there may be more victims and are urging anyone who has suffered abuse to come forward.

Melis's defense claims he has been under medical care for years and that his HIV status was not disclosed to anyone prior to the investigation.

He is currently under house arrest as the investigation continues.
