Political Storm Over Alleged Conspiracy in Italy

Published: 2024-08-18

A political storm has erupted in Italy over allegations of a conspiracy to undermine the government by targeting Arianna Meloni, sister of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

The controversy began with an editorial by Alessandro Sallusti in the newspaper Il Giornale, which accused a coalition of left-leaning media, politicians, and magistrates of orchestrating a campaign against Arianna Meloni.

Sallusti claims this is part of a broader strategy, dubbed the "Palamara method," to destabilize the government.

The accusations have sparked a fierce response from Fratelli d'Italia, the party led by Giorgia Meloni, which has denounced the alleged plot as an attack on democracy.

Meanwhile, Italia Viva, led by Matteo Renzi, has dismissed the claims as baseless, with Renzi himself questioning the Meloni family's perception of reality.

The situation has intensified political tensions, with both sides exchanging heated rhetoric and demanding accountability.
