Ottaviano Del Turco, a prominent Italian political figure and former president of the Abruzzo region, has passed away at the age of 79. His son, Guido, announced the news on Facebook, expressing deep affection and gratitude for their time together.

Del Turco, originally from Collelongo in L'Aquila province, had a distinguished career as a trade unionist with the CGIL, the last national secretary of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI), and served as Minister of Finance under the Amato government.

He also led the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission and was a member of the national leadership of the Democratic Party.
