Orban Criticizes EU's Green Deal

Published: 2024-09-06

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, speaking at the Ambrosetti Forum in Cernobbio, called for a reconsideration of the European Union's Green Deal, arguing it currently works against business interests.

Orban emphasized the need for a new competitiveness pact by November, highlighting issues such as excessive EU bureaucracy and the attractiveness of investment in Europe.

He expressed support for stronger cooperation in the European internal market but opposed relinquishing national veto rights in foreign policy.

Orban also voiced his backing for Donald Trump, citing his deal-making skills as beneficial for Europe.

He stressed the importance of national sovereignty in decisions on immigration, opposing EU-wide mandates.
