Naples Faces Rising School Dropout Rates

Published: 2024-08-09

In Naples, the neighborhoods of Scampia, Piscinola, Chiaiano, and Marianella are facing significant challenges with high dropout rates from lower secondary schools.

This issue extends to the neighboring seventh municipality, including the district of Secondigliano, where there is also a notable increase in high school dropouts.

Despite efforts from various institutions to combat this problem, as highlighted by Prefect Michele di Bari, the situation remains critical in certain areas.

Di Bari acknowledges the existence of the issue and emphasizes the need for intensified efforts, especially in specific municipalities, to address the educational disengagement.

The report on school dropout rates in Naples and its province underscores the urgency for targeted interventions to curb this trend and ensure better educational outcomes for the youth in these communities.
