Milan has introduced new 'red zones' to enhance public safety in key areas of the city.
Starting December 30 and lasting until March 31, individuals with records of drug offenses, theft, or other crimes will face restrictions in areas like Piazza Duomo, Navigli, and major train stations.
The measure, signed by Prefect Claudio Sgaraglia, allows police to remove those deemed a public safety risk.
This decision follows a year of increased arrests and reduced crime rates in Milan, attributed to heightened police operations.
Additional measures for New Year's Eve include a ban on glass bottles and alcohol sales in central areas, along with emergency response units near the Duomo.
