Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has reaffirmed her government's commitment to combating illegal immigration and organized crime.
Speaking to 200 prefects and police chiefs, Meloni emphasized the importance of the Italy-Albania migration protocol, vowing to overcome any challenges to its implementation.
She stressed that the government aims to restore the principle that entry into Italy must be legal.
Additionally, the administration is pushing for the early adoption of the EU's Asylum and Migration Pact, originally set for 2026, and awaits a key European Court ruling on Italy's "safe countries" decree.
Meloni underlined that legality and security remain top priorities for her government.
