Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has responded defiantly to being placed under investigation for her role in the repatriation of Libyan general Osama Almasri.
Speaking at an event in Milan, Meloni criticized parts of the judiciary, accusing some judges of overstepping their roles and attempting to influence government policies.
She emphasized her commitment to reforming Italy’s justice system and vowed to continue her leadership as long as she has public support.
Meloni also expressed frustration over the international media’s portrayal of the case, fearing it could harm Italy’s credibility abroad.
Despite the controversy, her stance has garnered significant support on social media, with many rallying behind her call for a "normal Italy" where citizens do not fear the state or its institutions.
The case has also reignited debates over judicial reform, a key issue in her government’s agenda.
