Marco Bucci, the current mayor of Genoa, has been announced as the center-right candidate for the presidency of the Liguria region.
This decision follows extensive negotiations within the coalition to find a successor to Giovanni Toti.
Bucci, who has been praised for his administrative skills and contributions to Genoa's development, including the rapid reconstruction of the Morandi Bridge, was chosen over other potential candidates like Ilaria Cavo and Pietro Piciocchi.
The announcement was made in a joint statement by Giorgia Meloni, Matteo Salvini, Antonio Tajani, and Maurizio Lupi, who expressed confidence in Bucci's ability to continue Liguria's growth.
Bucci's candidacy is seen as a strategic move to unify the center-right and strengthen their position ahead of the upcoming elections on October 27 and 28.
