Italy and Azerbaijan have reinforced their energy partnership, with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev highlighting the strategic role of his country in Europe's energy security.

Speaking at the European House-Ambrosetti forum, Aliyev emphasized Azerbaijan's position as a key supplier of oil and gas to Italy and Europe.

The two nations have signed protocols to enhance cooperation in energy security, emission reduction, and biofuel production.

This collaboration comes amid ongoing negotiations with other European countries to expand gas supplies.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella have both engaged in discussions with Aliyev, underscoring the importance of these energy agreements for Italy's future energy planning.
