On July 20, 2024, a 12-year-old boy was saved from drowning in the Adda River by former Olympic swimmer Federico Vanelli.
The boy, who was swimming with his family, was swept away by the strong current.
Vanelli, who was training nearby, heard cries for help and immediately jumped into the water.
Using his swimming expertise, he managed to reach the boy and bring him back to safety.
Fortunately, the boy remained conscious and was taken to the hospital for precautionary checks.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by strong river currents, especially after a recent tragedy where a 25-year-old drowned in the same river just a week prior.
