A tragic incident unfolded at Lake Garda's Punta Lido in Riva del Garda, Trentino, where a 27-year-old man, Tarandeep Singh, drowned while attempting to save a German child in distress.

Singh, originally from Haryana, India, was on vacation with friends when he heroically jumped into the water.

Despite the swift response from local emergency services, including the volunteer firefighters and the coast guard, Singh was found at a depth of several meters and could not be revived.

This incident follows a similar tragedy in the same area last month, where a mother and her son drowned.

Singh, who had been living in Cigole, Brescia, was remembered by his colleagues and employer, who have organized a fundraiser to repatriate his body to India.
