Giovanni Toti, the former president of the Liguria region, has had his house arrest revoked after nearly three months.
The decision came from Judge Paola Faggioni, following a request from Toti's lawyer, Stefano Savi.
Toti had been under house arrest since May 7 due to a corruption investigation that led to his resignation.
Meanwhile, the prosecution has opposed the release of entrepreneur Aldo Spinelli, who is accused of bribing Toti with €74,000 disguised as legal campaign funds.
The court's decision on Spinelli's case is expected soon, as the political landscape in Liguria prepares for upcoming elections on October 27-28. Toti expressed his dissatisfaction with the circumstances that led to his confinement, emphasizing the need for political autonomy in such matters.
