Giovanni Toti, the former president of the Liguria region, has been released from house arrest after 86 days.
He was initially placed under house arrest on May 7 due to allegations of corruption, illegal party financing, and vote trading.
The decision to revoke his house arrest was made by Judge Paola Faggioni, following a favorable opinion from the Genoa Prosecutor's Office.
Toti's lawyer, Stefano Savi, expressed satisfaction with the ruling, stating it reflects the truth of the situation.
Toti resigned from his position on July 26, which the prosecutors believe has eliminated the risk of him committing further offenses.
He now prepares to face trial in the coming months, maintaining his innocence throughout the investigation.
