A near-tragedy occurred in Gallipoli on the evening of July 21 when a children's ride at the Luna Park on Lungomare Galileo Galilei malfunctioned, injuring two boys aged 9 and 14. The ride, known as "calcinculo," features seats hanging from long chains that spin while riders attempt to catch a prize ball.
Reports suggest that a structural failure, possibly caused by the actions of the children, led to the incident.
Both injured boys were taken to the hospital, where they were treated for a cranial injury and various fractures but were later released.
The police are investigating the incident to determine if it was due to mechanical failure or improper use of the ride.
The ride is currently closed pending further safety checks.
