The G7 of Parliaments commenced in Verona under the auspices of Italian President Sergio Mattarella, who emphasized the necessity of global cooperation to tackle economic growth, migration, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity challenges.

The summit, hosted by Lorenzo Fontana, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, gathered international leaders to discuss security and development in Africa and the Mediterranean.

Despite the absence of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who participated via video link, the event highlighted the importance of democratic dialogue and international collaboration.

President Mattarella reiterated the significance of democracy, freedom, and peace, stressing that these values are under threat from global conflicts, such as the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

The summit also featured bilateral meetings and cultural exchanges, underscoring Verona's potential as a hub for international diplomacy.
