In a shocking case from Valcamonica, Italy, three individuals posing as doctors have been placed under house arrest for convincing the parents of a two-year-old cancer patient to abandon traditional medical treatments.
The accused, Sara Duè, Flavia Piccioni, and Yuri Tassinari, persuaded the desperate parents to try a dubious "quantum physics" therapy using a machine called Scio, located in the USA.
This so-called treatment, which cost the family €1,650, led to a deterioration in the child's health.
The parents, realizing the scam, reported the incident to the authorities, leading to the arrest of the trio.
They face charges of attempted extortion, fraud, and practicing medicine without a license.
The case highlights the dangers of alternative therapies and the importance of relying on certified medical professionals.
