An explosion in a residential building in Settimo Torinese, Italy, has left one 14-year-old boy with first-degree burns and several others suffering from smoke inhalation.

The incident occurred around 1 PM on August 5 at an apartment on Via De Francisco 21, which was undergoing renovations.

Witnesses described a loud blast, likening it to an airplane crash, followed by flames and the sound of emergency sirens.

Firefighters quickly responded, evacuating the area and battling the fire, which caused part of the scaffolding to collapse.

Fortunately, no one is in critical condition, and the injured have been transported to local hospitals.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the explosion, which appears unrelated to the renovation work.
