Vincenzo De Luca, President of the Campania region, has publicly criticized the national leadership of his party, the Democratic Party (PD), for opposing his potential third term.
This comes amidst ongoing judicial investigations involving two of his close political allies, Franco Alfieri and Giovanni Zannini, who face charges of corruption.
De Luca, speaking at a jewelry fair in Marcianise, emphasized his commitment to continue working for the region despite the controversies.
He dismissed the PD's decision as shortsighted, arguing that halting progress would harm Campania's development.
Meanwhile, PD officials, including Marco Sarracino, have expressed regret over the party's past decisions and reiterated their stance against De Luca's extended leadership.
