Francesca Ghio, a 31-year-old opposition councillor in Genoa, has courageously revealed her harrowing experience of being sexually and psychologically abused at the age of 12. During a council meeting, she shared her story, which she had kept secret for nearly two decades, to highlight the pervasive issue of violence against women.
