In the early hours of the morning, a two-story building housing a store for household and pet products collapsed in Latiano, Brindisi.
The incident occurred around 3:50 AM on Via Francavilla, a central street in the town.
The collapse was so sudden that it took only three seconds for the building to crumble, waking residents with a loud noise.
Fortunately, the store was closed at the time, preventing any casualties.
Firefighters, along with Urban Search and Rescue teams and canine units, quickly arrived on the scene to search for any potential victims under the rubble.
Initial investigations suggest that the collapse was due to a structural failure, possibly the sudden giving way of the floor slab.
The area has been cordoned off as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collapse, with no signs of a gas leak or explosion.
