A private daycare in Varese, Italy, is under police investigation after a 10-month-old girl was allegedly left alone when staff closed the facility.
The incident came to light when the child's father arrived to pick her up, finding the daycare locked and staff unreachable.
After a 20-minute wait, a teacher returned, claiming a colleague was inside with the child.
However, the parents report finding their daughter alone in her crib.
The daycare offers a different account, stating the teachers realized their mistake after five minutes and returned promptly.
The two educators involved have been suspended pending investigation results.
The Cooperative San Luigi, which manages the daycare, assures that services continue as normal while they conduct their own internal inquiry.
